Welcome to Episode 4 of  The Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast.

My name is Peter Ledwidge and I am your host.

Each week I sit down to talk in-depth with guests that push the boundaries of conventional living, driven by the singular pursuit of being on an unrelenting quest to continually expand the horizons of their body, mind and spirit.

The Plant Powered PT – Vegan Bodybuilding Without A Large Intestine.

This week I’m joined by Adam Stansbury – the plant powered pt.

Award Winning Trainer and Motivational Public Speaker.

Based in London, Adam has been working out in gyms since 1997 and professionally Training clients since 2009.

In November 2014 he adopted a plant based vegan diet, making the decision to change from his heavy meat based diet, for health and ethical reasons. Prior to that he had been held back by his stereotypical view of plant protein sources.

Luckily he came to realise the many benefits of living a plant powered life, not only to transform your body and health, but also to have an impact on the bigger issues going on around us, such as animal welfare and the environment. Through his work Adam has made it his mission to transform your body and the planet.

Severe Surgery

In 2005 Adam was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitus, 6 months later appeared on the December 2005 cover of ‘Healthy For Men’, just one month later in January 2006 he was submitted to hospital for an emergency illeostomy operation due to a severe blockage of his large intestine.

Over the next 2 years he went through 4 serious abdominal operations , using a colostomy bag then culminating in having the whole of his large intestine removed and an internal pouch constructed in place of his colon, all this whilst still training in the gym and working as a full time model.

This journey instilled in him a resilience to anything that life has to throw at him. Two years later Adam decided to follow his dream and qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2009.

Adam went on to compete in natural body building events in 2009,2010 and 2011, coming 3rd in 2009 and 2011.

Award Winning

In 2012 he was part of the team who won ‘National Gym of the Year 2012’ at the National Fitness Awards.

At the end of 2013 he was awarded ‘Gym Based Personal Trainer of the Year’ at the National Fitness Awards.

Needless to say all of this has given him massive life experience and is one of the reasons he continues to push his own development as a trainer and a well rounded human being. This shows through in how he trains his clients, with education, empowerment, intensity, focus and full support at the core of what he does.
